There is something about cars that many men just adore. We don’t just like these vehicles. We love them. We can spend hours looking at them, talking about them and thinking about them. To many men, being able to purchase their favorite car is a symbol of having achieved financial successes – or at least projecting that we have.
Many men will go well beyond simply loving cars from afar. We will spend money and time, tinkering, adjusting, improving and detailing our cars. Even if it’s just a matter of using a digital tire pressure gauge to check our inflation, we love it. It’s so easy for us to completely lose ourselves in this activity. Time has no meaning when we’re working on making things just right.
Have you ever wondered why so many of us are obsessed with what is – at its most basic level – merely a way to travel from one place to another?
When you think about it, we spend a huge amount of time in our cars. It’s not just a matter of hopping over to the corner star. Stats from USA Today say the average American commute driven by car is 25.5 minutes each way. So to round things up a little, it means most of us spend an hour per day in our cars just getting to and from work. That doesn’t count going anywhere else on top of that.
If you tally up the amount of time we spend in our cars every year just travelling to and from work, it comes to about 15.2 days! Half a month just driving to and from work. That’s a lot of time to spend in a vehicle. For that reason, it makes a lot of sense that the car is something that is important to us. If we’re going to spend more time in a car than we are on vacation each year then we want to love the way it looks, feels and works!
Much of the rest of the reason we love cars has to do with personal taste. Some of us like the nostalgia of classic cars. Some of us love the adrenaline of sports cars. Some of us want to broadcast our success with pride in a sophisticated luxury car.
